The whole presentation of those shelves is just beautiful.
But.
My librarian’s soul cringes at seeing the books pushed to the back. Please tell me there’s some space for air to circulate behind them? Would hate for y’all to have to deal with a mold infestation.
Ah, fear not, Kirsten. There’s the regulation 2.5 inches behind the books. Besides, with us, they don’t stay in one place long enough to get a mould growing!
On the shelves immeadiatly below the vase – I’m pretty sure I have one of those Enid Blyton books too, Adventure Island I think it’s called. I loved it as a child. I remember once being sentenced to my room one night for something bold I’d done and, being the rebellious little pain I was, I took huge pleasure in the fact that I’d enjoyed my punishment time by reading most of the book into the night until I fell asleep reading it. Something about an aeroplane, a parrot, a passage through the mountains, and caves with stalactites and stalagmites, and I think that book taught me how to remember which was which – stalactites hold on tight, stalacmites mite reach them. Bless.
Lou -I always remember the difference by:’Mites go up and tites go down’. What a wonderful punishment – hours to enjoy emersion in a great book. No punishment at all, really. You really know how to make the best of it.
John, you have a wonderful eye for composition, and certainly produce fascinating photos. Thanks for sharing them with us all.
John, have you and Graham thought of wire-socks for your hi-fi wires? They are little material tubes in an assortment of colours that you hide all your wires in. Keeps ‘em tidy and neat looking where you have visible wires.

It’s one of our collection of Julian King-Salter pots, Gary. I still have an inventory task on my list so I’ll be sure to show the whole lot of them…

I still take delight in seeing your wooden kitty-cat. It’s so very much like the one I have here on my shelves.

Yes, Adventure Island was great. A perfect story for children. Loved it too.
