After a long day Graham came home yesterday evening. We wined, dined, and then we went to Glastonbury. On DVD of course. Neither one of us would stand in a field of mud for any reason, not even for Muse:

My goodness! Can a stranger be first???

… not to worry, I won’t make a habit of it, just couldn’t resist this time.

Good for you Neva. After years of loud concerts I no longer worry about damaging my ears. I am half as deaf as a post. What was the music about?

Morning, Neva and Wayne, and well done on the ‘firsties’. The only exclusion on ‘firsties’ is me, of course…

Well obviously I have to skip that. Wil didn’t have time to tie up the loose speaker wires so we could check that method out.

And then you were able to go to bed and go to sleep? My whole system is still jangling along with the music.

I’m not sure you’d have enjoyed the Muse, Bonnie. They’re a British heavy rock band, musical, but LOUD. Helluva good drummer and bass player. The lead singer is good to excellent, but I’m not sure exactly where he and the band fits. Not techno, that’s for sure.
When we sat down to watch them I wasn’t too sure but they very quickly got my feet tapping to the counter-beat and memories of good old heavy rock days were revived. Graham was delighted at my reaction; he’s an avid proponent of the ‘don’t let the little b******ds generation-gap you’ approach to ageism.

Jangling, Mary Lee? Oh, I do hope not. I was excited by it but my evening cocoa soon got me calm and sleepy again!

“he’s an avid proponent of the ‘don’t let the little b******ds generation-gap you’” — right on! ha. The thing that young people don’t get yet is that often we older ones still feel like the 18-yr-olds we were/are — the insides don’t change all that much. At least that’s how it’s been for me…

You gottit, Nancy… Me too!

Is there a concert at Glastonbury? Solstice time, I should imagine.
I rather like heavy metal. After my then 80 year old mother went to one of the Clash/Who concerts she said she understood the attraction. Said the music went right to her bones. Her grandson introduced us to the music.
She also said that if symphony musicians could play like Led Zepplin there wouldn’t be a deficit.

The annual 3-day summer (not sure about the solstice, but it’s not that sort of affair, really) outdoor concert held in fields right by Glastonbury is enormous, Marty, attracting bands and fans from all over the world. The fans camp out on site. It always rains on at least one of the days, so it seems, and the affair has the ’sea of mud’ reputation that keeps old creakies like me at bay. It’s well televised, though, and the big groups seem to count it a badge of honour to give a 1-hour set. Never any trouble if you discount a bit of sex and drugs. The rock and roll is, of course, a given.

Yours is the featured blog day in and day out in the personal category so I finally decided to stop in. Very well written and fairly interesting.

Thanks, fullmetalgerbil. Keeps me amused.

John, I absolutely adored Muse’s ‘Hysteria’ video! And, what perfect timing for me to discover a new band, as I’ll be getting an Ipod Classic for Christmas this year. Muse songs will be among my first downloads. You always have lovely little surprises in your blog. Thank you.
