That’s a nice thought

The sky has gone an odd, almost forgotten colour today. Grey, with tinges of ochre and indigo. Beautiful in its own way but I greeted it with a small sigh. My sunny days have been interrupted once more.

We have such faith, don’t we, that our sunny days will always return. One day. Quite soon. Before too long.

So I sit here looking over rooftops and seeing minds-eye mountains. Some of them I have walked and clambered. Many, not.

On most of those where I reached the summit there will be a stone, placed carefully on the cairn by my younger hand. It’s likely that my stones are still there, albeit covered by layers of newer arrivals, but, deep in the cairn, quietly, my stones will still be there.

That’s a nice thought.
