Ah well, that’s the longest day done. The funeral went smoothly, so Graham told me this evening, and that’s good. Not the nicest of things, funerals, and you don’t want anything to wrong with them.
I found I couldn’t concentrate on anything at all today, for thinking of what was going on. I hovered by the phone, just in case a friendly word was needed. Strange day, altogether.
Now we’re on the homeward stretch. Graham is to stay on in Wales for the commitment of the ashes on Monday and then, all being well, will head back home on Tuesday. I’ve had the easy job, staying home and looking after the cats and the house, but it’s been a long, long haul, and I shall be glad to see the end of it.
It had occured to me of course that I should shut the online journal down for the duration, and confine my thoughts and observations to my private paper journal. I’m still not sure about it but I suspect I shall be glad to have these sparse notes here to act as a focus for my memory.
It’ll be good to get back to normal.
