“What’s that?” the guy selling cheap stuffed toys in Boston’s street market asked.

“Oh dear,” I said, smiling. “I’ve been spotted. It’s a camera.”

“Let’s have a look.”

I handed my pencam over and he took it gingerly and gave it a thorough, professional inspection.

“How many pictures will it take?”

“Oh, about thirty at high quality.”

He passed the little beauty back, remarking “What would we do without technology?”

“I don’t know,” I replied. “Lose out on a lot of fun?” And I pressed the shutter.
